Commision work to make mural illustration for dessert cafe in Indonesia Hejo Hejo. Cendols are popular traditional dessert originating from Southeast Asia which is popular in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Burma. According to popular belief in Indonesia that the name “cendol” is related to the word jendol, in reference to the swollen green worm-like rice flour jelly.
Everytime I draw these illustrations, it always made me hungry and crave for desserts because I have to look at their mouthwatering menus. I can’t resist to their food!! Their Cendol is very special because they don’t use coconut milk, like a regular cendol. They made it from almond milk instead, which has lesser calories.
If you are at Jakarta, forget about Starbucks, pop-up to their shop instead:
PLAZA SENAYAN (SMALL SHOP) Senin – Minggu // Jam 10.00 – 22.00
FOODCENTRUM SUNTER Senin – Minggu // Jam 10.30 – 21.30
ARTHA GADING Senin – Minggu // Jam 10.00 – 21.30
Their Plaza Indonesia shop is still under renovation and will open at 6the November 2015. It will feature my illustration works as wall mural.
I’ve given a bit of Indonesian touch to the design with Batik kawung and clouds pattern from Cirebon as details.
And now, I’m thirsty.
